Meet The Team
Phillips Orthodontics Greets You with a Smile
You can count on our exceptional team for high-quality orthodontic care including treatment with Invisalign®, Invisalign Teen®, and Empower® self-ligating braces. The top priority of our orthodontic team is to provide happy, healthy smiles to you and your family in a friendly, patient-centric environment.
Here are some of the people who will welcome you when you visit our Wilmington orthodontic office…
Laura – Scheduling Coordinator
Laura loves UNC, the Packers, the Red Sox, fast cars, boats, horses, road trips and all holidays, but most of all, she loves spending time with her family, watching her boys play baseball and doing anything water related with her family. On the weekends, you will likely find her at the lake, beach or the ballfield. Laura’s great experience and background in the medical field keeps us all going in the right direction.
Her favorite thing about working at Phillips Orthodontics is seeing the patients’ smiles after getting their braces off or finishing treatment with Invisalign. Laura says, “There’s nothing better than seeing the confidence that a beautiful smile brings!”.
Julie – Clinical Assistant
Julie grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Laney High School, where she was Homecoming Queen. Julie loves music, concerts, and spending time with her family and friends. She considers skydiving her “favorite bragging right” and is an avid sports fan. Julie loves the Duke Blue Devils, the Carolina Panthers, and the Atlanta Braves.
Julie is also quite the adventurer having traveled and camped across the country in 15 states! Yellowstone and the Caribbean Islands are her favorite places on Earth, so far! Stay tuned…
Kerry – Financial Coordinator
Kerry is excited to have joined our amazing team almost three years ago when she and her husband moved to Wilmington. She was a small business owner who became a medical office administrator in 2006. She is a coastal North Carolina native, but she has added Spanish to her southern drawl, so she is also our official translator for the Spanish-speaking community.
Kerry and her husband love to travel and explore the nooks and crannies of even the smallest towns. They share a passion for helping others and support various volunteer efforts. In fact, they met during Hurricane Relief while working on the itchy fiberglass insulation crew to repair damaged homes in North Carolina after Hurricane Floyd caused widespread flooding in 1999.
Madeline – Clinical Assistant
Madeline has been with Dr. Phillips’ team since 2011 and couldn’t be happier! She loves working with children and enjoys watching young patients grow and transform through orthodontic treatment. Madeline feels her job is truly rewarding as she gets to help build young patients’ confidence and provide each one a beautiful, healthy smile. Having recently undergone orthodontic treatment, she is able to relate to her patients on a personal level.
Madeline is also a native of Wilmington. Her favorite place to be is outdoors playing sports, exercising, reading, and going to the beach with her dog, Isla, and her husband, Cameron.
Samantha – Clinical Assistant
Samantha was born and raised in Colorado. Although, she did attend Laney High School (which is directly across the street from our office) while she lived in NC for a short time as a teen. We bet she would have never imagined back in High School that she would be a part of our team at Phillips Orthodontics, especially after having moved back to Colorado! Patient interaction is the best part of her job. She loves helping patients and understands their experience in treatment as she has been through two phases of treatment herself.
In her time away from the office, Samantha enjoys hanging out with her little sister. She also loves her dog, Willow, that is a gorgeous husky.
Sabrina – Clinical Assistant
Sabrina joined the Phillips Orthodontics team in 2017 and has worked as an orthodontic assistant since 2015. She is a local who loves spending time at the beach. She enjoys learning new things, listening to music, dancing, and traveling to new places. And speaking of traveling, Sabrina enjoys collecting coins from all over the world. Sabrina says, “I am glad to be a part of finding new smiles!”
Susan – Patient Care Coordinator
Susan has been in this practice since 1990 and in the orthodontic field for almost 30 years. During this time, she has seen the creation of countless beautiful new smiles! The transformative power of orthodontic treatment is something Susan feels strongly about and is especially gratified to watch this process in adults, who realize it’s never too late to achieve better dental health and find their own great smiles.
As Insurance and Financial Coordinator, Susan enjoys meeting and interacting with patients and their families and sharing their orthodontic journey. She loves being part of this amazing team and working for Dr. Phillips, whose commitment to excellence and sincere, caring dedication to his patients are unsurpassed.
Susan has three wonderful sons, two awesome daughters-in-law, and one adorable, perfect grandson! She shares her home with Molly, a once-feral kitten and occasional troublemaker who has become a great companion.
Susan loves spending time with family and friends, enjoying sunsets at the beach, singing in her
church choir, and traveling to unfamiliar places. One interesting fact about Susan is that her oldest son, Randy, is the lead singer for the heavy metal band Lamb of God. It’s fun to occasionally see patients come in the office wearing a t-shirt with the band name and be recognized as a “Rock Mom.”
Tia – Community Relations / Marketing Coordinator
Having served as a dental assistant for several years prior to her joining Dr. Phillips’ team in 2013, Tia understands the importance of orthodontic treatment to improve oral health, proper function, and to create a beautiful smile.
Tia understands and appreciates the orthodontic process because she has gone through orthodontic treatment herself. She jokes that she wore every oral appliance ever made! Having braces herself has made her even more empathetic with patients. She enjoys getting to see people start treatment at all ages, especially adults, and finish with amazing results!
In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and dogs – especially if it involves boating to the islands along the beautiful Intracoastal waterway.
Sarah – Treatment Coordinator
Sarah is a NC native born in Raleigh, NC. She has 2 stepdaughters and the oldest is a student with UNC. She also has 3 cats and 1 dog. Sarah is an avid gardener. She loves cooking for others when she has the opportunity.
Sarah is also a graduate of Meredith College and was the 3rd generation of her family to do so. Sarah likes to be informed and likes to keep you informed and with that, she will make sure that your journey to finding the best smile has the best start possible
